Q: Do I have to be a member to come on a walk?

A: You are welcome to join us on a few walks while you decide if you want to join. Two or, at most, 3 walks ought to be enough for you to decide if you would like to join the club. See the New Members' page for membership info and find out the benefits of membership.

Q: Do I have to book up to go on a walk?

A: You don't have to book a place to go on any of our walks unless otherwise stated - just turn up at the designated meeting place!

Q: What kit do I need?

A:  Look at our Before Walking page - items in red are the most important. The equipment is about making YOU feel comfortable.

Q: How experienced do I need to be?

A: Consult the walks programme and the Before Walking pages to find walks that are suitable for you and what equipment you need.

Q: Do I have to come to a New Members' Night first?

A: No, you are welcome to come along on a walk without coming to a New Members' Night first.

Q: What time do walks finish?

A: There is no easy answer to this question - duration depends on a wide variety of factors - length, difficulty, weather, number in group, experience of group etc.

Q: Can I come on a weekend away?

A: Priority for weekend bookings will always be given to members of MWW but if you are a Ramblers member and are interested in one of our weekends we may be able to accommodate you.

Please e-mail weekends email address quoting your Ramblers' membership number, the name of the group you belong to and details of the weekend which you are interested in.

Q: What about socials?

A: All social activities, with the exception of New Members' Nights are members only. Where advanced booking is required, this should be through official channels only, as advertised.

Q: Can I lead a walk?

A: If you are a Ramblers' member, you can lead a walk - indeed we encourage you to and will give you help, guidance and advice - talk to one of the committee for info.

Q: How can I help the group?

A: Lead a walk, organise a social, join the committee, distribute flyers/posters - there are lots of way in which you can help - talk to one of the committee who'll advise you how you can get involved!

Q: What if I am under 40?

A: Everyone is welcome on our walks as they are on all Ramblers walks so we'd love to see you! But we'd also thoroughly recommend the fantastic MAD Walkers 20s-30s group, another Ramblers' group in the Greater Manchester & High Peak area.

Q: Can I bring my dog?

A: Dogs are welcome if they are well behaved and properly supervised by their owners. Since some of our walks may involve areas where dogs are excluded, please contact the Walks Coordinator in advance to check whether it's OK to bring a dog for that particular walk. Q: Can I bring children?

A: Please check with the Walks Coordinator who will ask the walk leader. Remember the group is designed for adults so the pace may be too much for some children and not all pub stops may be suitable.
