The Manchester Weekend Walkers is a Ramblers' walking group set up at the beginning of 2013. We provide a programme of regular walks, socials and weekends away. The group is designed for people of working age who enjoy walking at the weekend. There is already a fantastic Ramblers' group for people in their 20s & 30s in Greater Manchester so we expect our membership to be mainly made up of people in their 40s & older but we welcome people of any age.
We are seeing new people joining all the time but we don't oblige you to take out a Ramblers' membership straight away. You're welcome to come out with us first and see if it would suit you - we think you will know this after coming out with us 2 or at most 3 times.
If you then join us, your membership will be supporting all the excellent work done by the Ramblers' Assocation(RA) to promote and encourage walking throughout the country. As a benefit of joining, as well as things like a magazine, insurance and discounts in outdoor shops, you will be part of the Greater Manchester & High Peak Area of the Ramblers' Association. This means that not only will you always be welcome at any walk organised by MWW and the other dozen or so groups in Greater Manchester - Bury, Bolton, Manchester & Salford, Oldham, Rochdale, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan and the New Mills & High Peak groups, but in fact you can go along and be made welcome at any Ramblers' organised walk anywhere in the country. There are dozens, if not hundreds, every weekend.

All MWW activities are organised and led by volunteers, and to make the group even more of a success, we need YOUR help!
From leading a walk to organising a social, from writing an article or review for the website to distributing posters to outdoor shops, there are plenty of ways in which you can help your group.
If you have any ideas for walks or socials, or would like to volunteer in any way, or have any suggestions for the group and the direction in which it should be going, or even comments and suggestions about the website, please have a word with a committee member.
To find out more about volunteering, visit the Ramblers' Volunteering Page.
Code of Conduct
The MWW committee want members and visitors to enjoy our walks, and other activities, in safety without harassment or prejudice.
The group is governed by the Code of Conduct issued by the Ramblers' Association. If you are finding problems, in the first instance please contact our Chair. You may also contact the RA by consulting the Code of Conduct link.
